APRIL 16 & 17, 2026 - Course Selection for Rising 9th Graders
The Director of School Counseling at NRHS, Paula Chausse, will be working with NMMS students during their Social Studies classes to help them select courses for their freshman year.
Freshman year focuses on building a strong academic foundation by completing core courses in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, as well as meeting general education requirements. This foundation prepares students for more personalized course selections in grades 10–12 that align with their interests and future college or career goals.
Currently, 8th-grade teachers are providing course recommendations in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. These recommendations are based on a combination of grades, classroom performance, and NWEA assessment scores.
In addition to core courses, many freshmen work toward completing general education requirements such as Technical Skills for Life (with a possible test-out option), Physical Education, Health Education, Information and Communication Technologies, and Arts Education.
